What to do with old Bic lightersWhat to do with old Bic lighters. I don’t throw away my old Bic lighters they are still useful and great fire starters. When they run out of butane and no longer work as a lighter; you can remove the metal top and expose the flint and steel beneath the hood. They work great for starting steel wool or other fine tinder’s and comfortable fit in your pocket. I have used them to start many fires. The only caveat I have run into is that they don’t work when wet, but i don’t know of any lighter that works well when the flint gets wet. Have fun and try it.
